A/N: Embracing My Journey

Hey there, fabulous ladies!

I’m Shar, the co-founder of Alpha Line! Well, Shar’s just a nickname, but let’s keep that between us–a little mystery never hurt anyone, right? ;) Anyway, enough about names. I’m here to share my fitness journey with you all, alpha babes. I believe we’re in this together, cheering each other on. And hey, full disclosure–I’m not always motivated, and my lifestyle isn’t always active either. Let’s be real, we all have those days where our minds are all about working out, but our bodies just aren't feeling it. Sound familiar? Trust me, I've been there and I’m still there too.

But hey, that lack of confidence actually led me to create my own activewear brand. Pretty wild, huh? It all started during the pandemic that hit three years back. For a solid two years, the pandemic completely shifted the world. With strict lockdowns in place, we were all stuck at home, left with plenty of time to kill indoors. So, what did everyone do? Well, it seemed like everyone was hopping on the Instagram and Facebook bandwagon, posting about their at-home workouts and newfound dedication to a healthier lifestyle–it was a thing back then, and even now.

Now, let me be real with you. I've always been very shy and insecure, especially about my not-so-perfect body. I couldn’t bring myself to do what so many other girls were doing. Everywhere I looked on social media, it seemed like there were these gorgeous, slim ladies rocking their sleek activewear, flaunting their abs, while I just couldn’t relate. Instead of abs, I had (well, still have) flabs, and my skin? Well, let’s just say it wasn’t exactly camera-ready. So, where did I fit into all of this? I asked myself that question over and over.

So, when I saw all these girls getting into their workouts, something inside me stirred. I mustered up the courage to buy myself some activewear. But guess what? The stuff I bought did nothing for my confidence. The sports bra offered zero support, making me feel even more insecure. And those leggings? Let’s just say they didn’t do my legs any favors–I felt like a bunch of sausages squeezed into tight casings. Okay, maybe I’m being a tad harsh, but that’s genuinely how I felt when I started out.

I tried different brands, different styles, but nothing seemed to fit my pear-shaped body. It was always the same story–except for the oversized t-shirt that helped cover up more than half of me. So, there I was, working out with my sister in our bedroom, with the doors locked so no one could see. I’d gaze out the window, wishing I could be thinner, wishing I could fit in like everyone else, petite, pretty, lovable. And you know what happened after few months? My sister reached out and asked if I wanted to join forces to build our very own activewear brand. My sister and I both felt like it was a sign from the universe, and for once, I said yes to the universe's call.

And that's how Alpha Line came to be! A huge shoutout to my sister and good friends who not only believe in the brand but also worked tirelessly alongside to turn Alpha Line from a dream into a reality. Their dedication and support meant the world to me. When I think of the word 'Alpha' of Alpha Line, I see women radiating strength, confidence, and self-belief. Similarly, the word 'line' symbolizes the connection—a bond uniting all women in our mission to uplift and empower each other.

We made sure Alpha Line isn’t just another activewear brand. It’s a brand dedicated to helping people kickstart their fitness journey, no matter the reason. It's a safe space where people can feel confident in their own bodies. Honestly, Alpha Line has been a game-changer for me. Two years ago, I started playing tennis and began wearing clothes other than just loose t-shirts and baggy sweatpants. Looking in the mirror, I felt a shift. I'm not claiming to be flawless, but what I'm saying is that this journey with Alpha Line has not only transformed me physically but mentally as well.

By the time you read this write-up, our second collection is finally up on the website. My sister and I love to play tennis, and that love inspired the second collection which is the #TeamRacket collection, and I hope you all love it as much as Alpha Line enjoyed creating it for you all. Finally, I found activewear that fits me comfortably and makes me feel good, and now, racket wear to get me ready for the court! While I'm still a work in progress, I want all of you to know that if you share insecurities about your body like me, I'm right here with you. I understand what you're going through, and you're not alone in this journey.

Sharing with you all my all-time favorite and inspiring quote from New Happy Co, here’s something wonderful to keep in mind: “When you are true to yourself, you inspire others to be true to themselves, too.” This quote inspired me so much that it essentially became the core principle of Alpha Line.
